Studies have shown that adult mesenchymal stem cells, osteoblasts, fibroblasts, endothelial cells and epidermal cells, express the cell membrane receptors for growth factors in PRP.

"Studies have shown that adult mesenchymal stem cells, osteoblasts, fibroblasts, endothelial cells and epidermal cells express the cell membrane receptors for growth factors imv PRP. These transmembrane receptors in turn induce activation of an endogenous internal signalling protein that causes (unlocks) expression of a normal cell gene sequence, such as cell proliferation, matrix formation, osteoid production, collagen synthesis, etc. The significance of this finding is that PRP growth factors never enter the cell or its nucleus, they are not mutagenic and they work by stimulating normal healing, just much faster. Therefore, PRP has no ability to induce tumour formation and never has."
