Hyaluronic Acid and PRP

Why do we combine Hyaluronic Acid and PRP? This is one of the questions we get asked a lot. In truth, Hyaluronic acid has been used in conjunction with PRP for many years in sports science indications, but it is highly beneficial in aesthetic use as well.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Before looking at why we combine Hyaluronic acid with PRP, it helps to understand what Hyaluronic acid is. Known as a natural humectant, Hyaluronic Acid is produced within the body to support tissue and bone health by forming the building blocks and nourishment for Cartlidge.

In the skin, Hyaluronic Acid supports collagen and helps the skin to retain its elasticity by attracting and holding water.

Now, in sports science and aesthetics hyaluronic acid can be produced at different molecular weights. Generally speaking, larger molecules will penetrate the superficial layer of skin, whilst smaller molecules will target the deeper layers.

What is PRP?

PRP, also known as platelet-rich plasma is one of the most popular treatments around. Besides its effectiveness in sports medicine addressing injuries, PRP is also highly beneficial when used in aesthetics to address skin conditions and even hair loss.

PRP works by collecting a blood sample from the patient’s arm, then placing it in a specially designed centrifuge to separate the blood from its key components.

Naturally, human blood contains several highly beneficial counterparts that are vital in supporting overall health and body functionality, these counterparts are:

• Plasma – a yellowish substance that carries salts, water, and enzymes around the body.

• Platelets – present to support healthy coagulation of the blood.

• Growth Factors – these are vital proteins found within the blood to support health.

These key components are injected into the treatment area to trigger the body’s natural healing ability and stimulate collagen.

How is Hyaluronic Acid and PRP used in Sports Science?

In sports science, Hyaluronic Acid and PRP are combined to boost treatment efficacy. Whilst the PRP harnesses the body’s natural healing abilities and stimulates collagen production to heal the affected area, the Hyaluronic Acid helps to boost molecular activity within the plasma, help tissue regeneration and provide additional lubrication within the joint to address pain.

How is it used in Aesthetics?

In aesthetics, PRP is highly effective in addressing signs of ageing, and overall skin rejuvenation. This is because the natural components found within the blood help to tighten and restore lost volume to encourage collagen production.

PRP as a skin rejuvenation treatment can be used to address:

– Fine lines and wrinkles

– Overall skin tone and laxity

– Acne scarring

– Rosacea

– Complexion

Why choose RegenLab PRP?

We are the industry pioneers when it comes to PRP and cell therapies. All of our products are patented and use a unique separation gel to guarantee minimum variation and a platelet recovery above 80%.

This provides an autologous reservoir of growth factors, that is then combined with 40mg of non-crosslinked Hyaluronic Acid which helps to form a bioactive scaffold allowing platelets to gradually release growth factors for longer-lasting benefits.

Known as a class iii medical device, our devices are closed systems meaning they are safe and sterile for use in clinic.
