Getting Ready for Summer with PRP Treatment

With summer just around the corner, your patients may be looking at getting ready for summer with PRP treatment to give their skin a healthy glow.

What is PRP?

Before looking at how your patients can benefit from PRP treatment, it helps to understand exactly what PRP treatment is and the benefits it boasts, not just for the skin but also for the hair.

PRP, otherwise known as Platelet Rich Plasma, was historically used in sports science treating A-List athletes such as Tiger Woods suffering from sports injuries. It works by harnessing vital components found within human blood to trigger healing, boost cell activity, and regenerate tissue to stimulate collagen production.

Now, naturally, the human blood contains platelets, plasma, and growth factors, three key nutrients that play a pivotal role in the body when an injury occurs. As the initial responders, platelets, plasma, and growth factors can stop bleeding, form new healthy tissue, and stimulate collagen.

During a PRP treatment, it is these components that are extracted from the human blood and injected into the area of concern.

The first step is to extract blood from your patient’s arm (similar to a blood test). The blood is then placed into a special centrifuge that spins at a specific frequency to separate the blood from its constituent parts.

The separated plasma, growth factors, and platelets can then be injected directly into the treatment area.

So, what indications can PRP treatments be effective in treating? Besides its use in sport science, PRP has been proven to be highly effective in treating several concerns and ailments in aesthetics, including:

– Skin conditions

– Anti-aging

– Wound healing

– Hair loss

– Gynaecological concerns

– Erectile dysfunction

Getting Ready for Summer with PRP Treatment

If your patients are getting ready for summer, PRP is the treatment you should recommend. In skin health, PRP injections work to rejuvenate the skin and radiance for a natural glow whilst addressing signs of aging including fine lines and wrinkles.

Once injected, the key components injected get to work in boosting the body’s natural healing response. Additional collagen is produced, new and healthy skin tissue is formed, and key vitamins are delivered to the treatment area for healing.

As PRP uses no additional components, besides the natural minerals found within the blood, it is known to be one of the safest treatments on the market, suitable for all types.

In skin care, PRP injections can be used to address:

• Loss of volume

• Combat sagging skin

• Nasolabial folds

• Skin tone and complexion

• Acne scarring

• Brightness and radiance
